Our mission is
to promote and protect sporting shooting and the well-being of the countryside
throughout the United Kingdom and overseas. We represent our members' interests
by providing a voice for sporting shooting which includes wildfowling, game,
and rough shooting, deer stalking, target shooting and air gunning, pigeon
shooting and pest control, gun dogs, promoting practical habitat conservation,
training and the setting of standards and undertaking appropriate research.
Throughout the
UK support, help and guidance to members is provided by full-time regional
directors centred on four English regions - the North, East and South East,
South and South West, and Midlands - and there are three national centres -
Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
It has its
National headquarters at Marford Mill, Rossett near Wrexham It is very much a
full-time and professionally administered operation. Under the chief executive
it has specialist teams covering:

• gundogs
• research
• conservation and land management
• training and standards
• deer management
• rural land management
• wildfowling
• media and communications
BASC is a
national representative body for sporting shooting. We have five strategic

BASC Wales Country
Officer stated ‘‘ we are pleased to be advising and assisting the organisers of
the North Wales Country Fair at the Rhiwlas Estate in Bala and we are fully
supportive of the committee behind the event. The BASC Wales team will be on
hand for both days of the event to answer any questions that you may have and we
will also be providing the main arena gundog display.
We will also be
providing gundog scurries which run in conjunction with the BASC
Chudleys Scurry League. This new and unique competition provides the chance to win great prizes.
Our BASC Sporting Shotgun School will also be
present. This is designed to offer an opportunity for those who already shoot
and want some advice on their shooting , or those who feel they would like to
try for the first time to do so under expert tuition and instruction from one
of our qualified coaches.’’
BASC Gundog Scurries
The BASC Chudleys Gundog
scurry league will be part of the attractions available at the North
Wales Country Fair. Organised by BASC and run by volunteers this exciting event
is fun to watch and open to anyone with any breed of dog to compete in.
There will be three separate competitions for you to enter, the
obstacle course, retrieve with distraction and the double seen retrieve. All
sections are run against the clock and can be entered as many times as you
wish, with prizes on the day down to third place in every section.
The competitions start 10am
at and close at 4pm on both days with prize giving at the BASC stand.
